reading section
Reading in IELTS or TOEFL both the exams include the paragraphs they have to read in the syllabus of their subject. TOEFL consists of 3-5 questions to be answered in 20 minutes. There are 3 questions to be answered in IELTS. In this, students will be asked to answer questions in different ways such as gap filling, short answer.
writing section
While giving IELTS paper you have to solve 2 written questions. In the first you have to explain the given information in the form of diagram, table chart etc. While in the second, you have to write 200-250 words from Logic. If you take the TOEFL exam, you will need to write a five-paragraph essay of 300-350 words. For the second question in IELTS or TOEFL, you have to take some notes from the given paragraph and prepare an answer in 150-225 words.
listening section
In IELTS or TOEFL, the methodology of both the exams are very different from each other. In the IELTS test, students can answer questions while listening to a recording. There will be different types of long and short questions. While TOEFL exam is based on class lectures in which students have to pay attention while listening to audios, in TOEFL students are given 40-60 minutes to solve MCQs.

In TOEFL speaking analysis is recorded through a microphone and sent to the examiners. Whereas in IELTS the speaking test is a face-to-face test for all the candidates. Duration of TOEFL will be 20 minutes IELTS will be of maximum 10-15 minutes. In IELTS or TOEFL, IELTS will allow you to prepare first for speaking while TOEFL does not have such an option.
